I’m going to die soon…

He died, too Young

This was a post that I drafted about this same time three years ago but never published – until now.

At 3 years old, our little grandson, Marley, asked me how old I was. “66 years old, Marley.” You could just about see the cogs whirring in his head. His response, “That’s really old. You’re going to die soon.” And he’s right, isn’t he? Whether it’s a year, 5 years or 20 years, it’s still going to be soon. And am I prepared?

I turned 67 y.o. yesterday. Marley wanted to know how old I was. After I told him he said “Is that more than 100?”. I assured him that it wasn’t. He said that I would probably die first (between me and Grandma, because I’m older – there’s logic there).

I could get concerned about being told that I’m going to die soon – but I’m not. Even less so after I found out that Marley is telling his parents which of them are going to die first (they’re half my age). He goes strictly in age order.

Back to the current. Marley is 7 years old now. He’s not so focussed on death anymore. It was a phase that he was going through. Both Grandma and I are still here.

I published this as there is a significant event happening soon (with a post of course!) and I though that it was a good segue.

Until next time.
