Miles from nowhere, yes, I’ll take my time

If you’re familiar with the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens (I can hear some of you saying, “Cat who?” – Google it!), you’ll know the title is from one of his songs. It seems appropriate. We’re at Greenly Beach, just north of Coffin Bay, SA. We’re “free camping”, $5 a night. No toilets, no showers, no power or water – nothing except what we have with us. Oh, and the magnificent view in the photos above. That is literally on our doorstep. The entire beach had two people on it. And some beautiful shells.

This is the Simple Life. We have no phone signal (you may well ask, “how am I writing this?” Great question, the wonders of modern technology!”). We had a simple but satisfying lunch and we’ll have a yummy dinner. I might even go fishing with Ryan this evening if the wind drops and maybe catch tomorrow’s dinner. Or not. Simple.

The grandies, Marley and Nyah came over this afternoon and we played restaurants. They were customers. I explained what was on the menu, addressed them as Sir and Madam, and refused to answer unless they called me “waiter”. I got their orders, got the food they ordered and only stopped taking orders when the kitchen closed (to close to their dinner time). They reluctantly left. I think that they’ll be regular customers.

Yesterday, Grandma was teaching them and reading stories – when she wasn’t making turmeric lattes and other treats for them. She is a wonderful teacher and a great grandma. The simple life.

We haven’t watched TV for a month. We only get a tiny bit of news. We don’t miss that. We rest, have time in prayer, and in the Word. The simple life, and it is refreshing to our souls.

The skies declare the glory of the Lord!

This morning’s sunrise. Or, if you want Cat Stevens take on it, “Morning has broken”.

It’s not all idyllic, just had to empty the Porta Potty from 2 days free camping… but that was simple too. 😉

Wonderful updates, thanks Geff. Keep them coming! It’s nearly all bad news on the TV – you’re only missing the terrible flooding on the east coast and the injustice of war in Ukraine. It’s a messy world at the moment – a world away from your simple life, take care and enjoy 🙂

The part about the grandkids coming to your restaurant is adorable- they are blessed to have such creative and attentive grandparents 💗
