One Day in London

And now for something completely different. A guest blogger – my lovely wife, Jeannie.
What do you do when you have 1 day in London?
I goggled that question & it came up with 10 options. Number 1 on the list is Westminster Abbey. It is definitely worth visiting.
Dripping with history going back centuries, kings & queens crowned there. Every king & queen of England since 1066 has been crowned there. I was surprised to see that Sir Isaac Newton is buried there, and so is William Wilberforce. Stephen Hawkin’s ashes are interred there, too. Obviously, you don’t have to be a king or queen or Christian to get your foot in the door!!

The architecture is grandiose, English & French (they must have talked to each other way back!), Westminster Abbey is just beautiful!
Being an ex-ballet dancer… decades ago!! We had to go to Covent Garden, not to see the ballerinas but to take in the markets… some very creative people.

We were treated to live opera whilst queuing to spend a penny (inflation has hit hard, it is now £1.50). I’m sure that wouldn’t happen anywhere else. The live opera, I mean.
Walking the streets of the Monopoly board, seeing the magnificent century old buildings & the iconic hanging baskets packed full with vibrant flowers.

London was hot & teeming with tourists. I guess we’re included! I did a lot of cropping in these photos… very few tourists to be seen! The underground packed like sardines. But a day in London was fun to do.
Until next time…
