30th Wedding Anniversary

Ok, it’s still a month away, but we are celebrating already. Why would you only celebrate for a day?! Tasmania for 9 days. Yeah!
We’re in Tasmania. Hobart first. It was only a 3 hour 45 minute direct flight from Perth. We had the smoothest check-in and security screening ever at Perth airport. There must have been anywhere between 30-50 people working in the security area, and we were the only people going through.
Should I mention that a regular (small) long mac topped up (coffee) was $7.20 at the airport? Probably not.
The flight was easy. Making our way from Hobart airport to our apartment hotel (via Skybus), it got dark quickly and cold, too. The wind was bitter. It was a maximum of 14c for the day, whereas Perth’s maximum was 21c.

Here’s the strange thing, though. The minimum was 13°c at 10 minutes past midnight in Hobart. Back in Perth, the minimum was 4.4° at 7.20 am. Am I the only person who finds it fascinating? Probably.
Disclaimer
Being in Tasmania for just nine days, I can only write about my impression of the places we see.
Both Hobart and Launceston (we had three days in each place) have preserved their old buildings well. And I’m talking about the mid 1800’s. So well preserved that we didn’t see hardly any new buildings. No high-rise buildings either. It was like walking back in time. Remove the cars and it would almost be like living in Victorian times in the 1800’s.

Friendliness of a Past Age?
People seem more laid back, easy going here – more friendly as well. We went to Sandy Bay Baptist church. The people were genuinely friendly (not overly so, just nicely so!). We then went to Subway in the city to have lunch. The young woman serving gave me a beanie free. I did need one and was enquiring about what I would need to purchase to get one that was on a promotional offer. So she just gave me one!

We were touring Hobart via the Hop on Hop off double-decker bus. We went to the Royal Botanical Gardens (there are a lot of royal things here). Back into the city, we had missed the last bus back to our accommodation. A bus driver came up and said that we looked lost and could he help. Friendliness again.

We celebrate by exploring, walking, going on adventures, resting and just being together. Love it. Love my lovely wife of nearly 30 years! 😍 The Lord has blessed us mightly. 🙏🏽
Until next time…
